Irish Night - a wonderful night of music and singing was held at the Thatch Bar Lisselton on Saturday night last. The night was a celebration of the wonderful success of the branch and its very talented young members over the past year. Each of the musicians who took part in the All Ireland Fleadh in Sligo received a beautiful plague engraved with their name and details of their achievement. All of the perpetual trophies won by the groups during the year were on display on the night and the new harp and drums were launched. Marie O Gorman from North/East Kerry development was guest speaker on the night. Branch chairperson Liz Mc Namara thanked her for her kind words and her encouragement in helping the branch obtain these instruments. The dedication of the parents of the young people were also acknowledged. Katie Mc Namara Purcell spoke about how proud she was of the young musicians and their achievements. She commented on how close the group are and how wonderful it is to have some of the younger All Ireland medal winners now teaching in the branch passing on their talent.
