Ballybunion CCE
The holiday weekend was a busy one for the Comhaltas branch in Ballybunion. The weekly Irish night in Kilcoolys was a huge success as the punters were in top form following the rugby win! The announcement of Lord Mayor(ess) was deferred due to the fact that one of the candidates, Noreen Pierce, had suffered a bereavement. Condolences were offered to the family and the announcement of the winner is now to be made on Saturday April 5th instead. The fundraiser raffle which was to take place has also been put back until the 5th of April and it was decided that the branch would not be participating in the St Patrick's Day parade.
On Sunday evening, Kilcoolys was the venue again for the Céilí which was organised by Marie Houlihan and her able team, to mark the end of season classes with Timmy Woulfe, who had spent every Thursday night since the beginning of October teaching the class sets from all over Ireland and afar. The music from Donie Nolan was outstanding but the tea from the china cups was deemed to have been by far the best cup of tea to have been drank in many a day!! There were sandwiches and buns galore! The surplus money from the night has been put aside to go towards another Céilí over the summer time, so watch this space! A donation was also made to the local Cove Youth Café. The musicians had a session in Kilcoolys on St Patrick's Day after the parade to wind down the weekend. The branch would like to thank all those who supported the Céilí and also everyone who worked so hard and give of their time in order to keep the show on the road. We hope you had an enjoyable weekend and don't forget the regular Irish night with the local branch at Kilcoolys every Saturday night.
