CCÉ LEAC SNÁMHA It was a proud moment for the branch to have our own Pat Joe Dennehy officially launch Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí on Friday night last in the Ashe Hotel Tralee, he spoke from the heart recalling history and memories of comhaltas in Kerry. Our 56th annual Féile Cheoil will take place over next weekend 13th and 14th May. This is a weekend of celebration at the end of a busy year in the Ceolann and before Fleadh Chiarraí. The féile kicks off with dancing competitions on Saturday, open and confined to Lixnaw parish with adjudicator Maureen Farrelly. On Saturday night there will be a concert with all our performers going forward to Fleadh Chiaraí and also a performance from Sean and Niamh Abeyata and friends so please come along for a great nights entertainment starting at 8pm. Sundays competitions begin with sean nós dancing at 12 noon and traditional music, traditional singing and comhrá gaeilge at 2pm age from U9 upwards and open to all qualified by age. We invite you all to please come out and support this weekend as its all about our youth and their place in carrying on our culture and tradition of music, song, dance and our native language. For all details check lixnaw comhaltas- ceolann and kerryccé facebook pages and www.kerrycomhaltas.ie and remember that Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí will officially open on Wednesday 17th May and continue right up to Sunday 21st so lots to look forward to. Slán tamall.
