SULT NA nÓG COUNTY FINAL
Pride of place this week goes to Kilcummin Comhaltas who enjoyed huge success in music, song and dance in the County Final of Sult na nÓg which took place at the IT Tralee, North Campus and Fossa Community Centre last weekend. Well done to all our young performers, their trainers and parents and all who played their part in bringing success to the Branch. The following were the prize winners: Fiddle (U9) 2nd Síofra Randles and 3rd Nancy O’Connor. Button Accordion (9-11) 1st Michael Healy and (11-13) 2nd Liam Kerrisk. COUNTY FLEADH
The closing date for entries to the County Fleadh must be with Branch Secretary Louise Finnegan by Monday the 1st April. Entry forms available in the Rural Development Office.
FLAG DAY
Our Annual Flag Day will take place on Saturday 8th April. The Branch would appreciate if you could contribute an hour and a half to help in our fundraising efforts. Please contact Irene on 087- 6950672. Your help would be much appreciated.
SCOIL FONN AND AMHRÁN 2017
In conjunction with Comhairle na Mumhan, Kerry County Board of Comhaltas are organising workshops on Traditional singing in English and Irish, and slow air playing. This year, we are also running a workshop on the Sliabh Luachra music style. These workshops will be held on Saturday 1st April 2017 in the IT Tralee, North Campus. Registration from 10.30am. Class: 11am – 12.30pm. Lunch 12.30pm - 1.30pm. Class: 1.30pm – 3.00pm. The Tutors are: Slow airs on flute/whistle and fiddle – Anne and Nicky McAuliffe. Singing – Ella Marie O’Dwyer, Sliabh Luachra Music – Joe O’Sullivan. All age groups welcome. These workshops are not suitable for beginners. Cost: €10 to include one day tuition and lunch. Information and Application forms available from The Rural Development Office, Kilcummin. All entries to Karen Trench, Rúnaí CCÉ Ciarraí, Bunagara, Listowel, Co Kerry, including €10 fee, by Tuesday 28th March.
