Our monthly branch meeting was held last Tuesday night in the meeting rooms at Park road. Welcoming everyone branch chairman Eoin O’ Carra said he was delighted to congratulate Nicky and Anne McAuliffe, who were announced as winners of the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Lifetime Achievement Award. This year, Nicky began his 49th year teaching and Anne her 44th. Amongst the numerous awards, this couple has gleaned, Nicky was awarded 'Ceann Ródaí' by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann at Scoil Éigse in Tullamore in 2009. The Gradam Ceoil presentations will be made in Belfast in February 2019.

We are delighted to also congratulate our musicians who competed in Ceol an Gheimhridh last weekend. Olwyn Evans came 1st ( 1Y, Wind 11-14) and 2nd (2Y, Reed 11-14) together with Ewan, Olwyn came 2nd ( 9Y, Duets 11-14)


Maureen McMahon O Leary gave us a comprehensive report on The County Board AGM.


We were reminded that Comhra Gaeilge, Dan, and Sult nOg are taking place next March.


We had a lively and informative discussion on The Child Safeguarding Statement which will be further discussed and compiled.


Grainne Evans gave us an update on Groupi Cheol and told us that the very successful music session held last year will resume in the New Year at a date to be announced.


We can look forward to The Kerry Fleadh returning to Milltown next year and The Munster Fleadh in Ennis.


The Torc Set Dancing weekend was another huge success last weekend. We had visitors from across Ireland, England and Canada all joined by a big contingent of local dancers.


Our next branch meeting will be on Tuesday 15th January at 9 pm in the meeting Rooms Park Road.
