At our recent branch meeting Chairman Eoin O’Carra thanked all who helped in any way during Sult na nOG. Congratulating all who competed he said our branch was very proud of all competitors but especially proud of all who received accolades.

Our Co board delegate Geraldine Guilfoyle gave us a comprehensive report and read the minutes from the 57th Annual Munster Convention which was held in Mallow on 26th February. Branch youth Officer Niamh Fenton also gave us here report from the same convention. Niamh also discussed a manual, compiled by Damian Mac Aonghusa which   she received on the day, with templates on organising events and said she had some ides of organising an event  in Killarney for young Comhaltas members.

Some discussion ensued regarding the plans to organise a singers circle and also a suitable venue for young musicians to gather and share music, tunes and the folklore of local tunes.

The change in some rules for Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann were also discussed, entrants, tutors and teachers are advised to log on to for full details.

Fleadh Cheoil Chiarrai is been hosted in Tralee again this year 17th to 21st May. All entries must be with our honorary secretary by 1st April.

To celebrate seachtain na Gaeilge our chairman advised of three very interesting websites and apps for your phone www. where you can translate English to Irish.www. for place names and towns lands also for folklore.

We are delighted that members from our branch will participate again this year in the very colourful Saint Patrick’s Day Parade; you can catch them with their magical music and dancing at The Courthouse before the parade.

At the conclusion of the meeting our Child Protection Policy was signed copies can be viewed at all our classes and events.
