Lixnaw CCÃ: The branch are proud to be holding their 24th Annual Féile Feabhra in the Ceolann over next weekend, 8th and 9th Feb. This Féile and all others are really about showing and celebrating what our branch is doing to teach and pass on the traditions of our culture through music, dancing, comhrá, drama ect. Saturday's events kickstart with a 'Ceilí Band' workshop from 11.30am -1pm with tutors, Natasha Sheehy and Nicole Doyle at hand to give an insight into Ceili band development and formation, registering at 11am. Lunch will be provided 1pm-1.30 and from 1.45-3.30 dancing tutor, Katie Griffin will give a Sean-nós dancing workshop catering for all ages so start shining those dancing shoes!. Fee for each workshop is â¬10 or â¬15 for both. On Saturday night at 8pm the Annual Féile Feabhra concert will be held featuring the children from the various classes in Lixnaw CCà and their teachers, admission adults â¬5 and children â¬2. Then on Sunday 9th at 2pm competitions will be held in traditional music, traditional singing and comhrá gaeilge. These competitions are open to all non- members as well as members of Comhaltas, qualified by age, who have never won on the particular instrument or singing competition in any age group at a County Fleadh, Ceol an Gheimhridh or the open Lixnaw Féile Cheoil. The age groups are: U8, U10, U12 and O12 for Banjo, Mandolin, Flute, Fiddle, Tin Whistle, B Accordion, Concertina, Duets and Trios. For Quartettes, English and Irish Singing for boys and girls, the age is U12 and O12, Comhrá Gaeilge is U9, U11, U13, U15 and O15.
