Brosna Comhaltas

Brosna Comhaltas held our second ‘Seisiún’ at Kate Pat’s Bar on Friday 10th April and what a tremendous evening it turned out to be. Our talented local musicians, dancers and singers of all ages and abilities gathered together and provided their audience with a fantastic evening of ‘ceol agus craic’. Christopher Lane started off the evening with a tune called ‘The maid behind the bar’. Throughout the evening the children played their tin whistles, fiddles, accordions and banjos and treated us to a selection of lively well known tunes which they so proudly played throughout our evening. A special thanks to our very own local comhaltas fiddle teacher Darragh Curtin who was present on the night and guided the children through some of their tunes. Thanks also to Holly O’Sullivan who gave us a taste of her gorgeous sean nós dancing and to the others little dancers who joined in. We also had “The Brush Dance” from Nadine Forrest. But the night wasn’t only about the children. Many parents and locals such as Josie McCreesh, Ina Horgan, Liz Lane, Timmy O’Sullivan, Lisa Cox, John & Ellen Cronin sang fabulous renditions of the old classics we so fondly grew up with. Darragh Cahill concluded our seisiún with Amhrán na bhFiann.

Many thanks to John & Ellen Cronin for hosting our ‘Seisiún’. Thanks also to Brosna Comhaltas Committee for organising the night and to all those who helped out with the refreshments. We look forward to our next ‘Seisiún’
