Our Comhaltas Music & Dance Teachers

Anne-Marie Nelligan is an amazing dancer who has danced with various dance shows such as Rhythm of the Dance, Dance of Desire and To Dance on the Moon. Ann-Marie has performed with the likes of Finbar Furey, Doleres Keane and Sharon Shannon etc.

Philip Shine is an accomplished accordion player who came second in the Senior Button Accordion Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in 2013. Philip has been teaching music for several years to both children and adults at all levels.

Darragh Curtin is an exceptional fiddle player from Brosna who has won many prestigious awards including Oireachtas Senior Fiddle Title in 2014 and he recently became the first Kerry person to win the Senior Fiddler of Dooney in Sligo.

Brosna Comhaltas held our first ‘Seisiún’ at the Three Counties Bar on Friday 27th February and what a ‘Seisiún’ it was! Our talented local musicians, dancers and singers of all ages and abilities gathered together for an informal evening of ‘ceol agus craic’. Playing tin whistles, fiddles and accordions our fabulous musicians treated us a selection of lively tunes which lifted the hearts of everyone there that night. A special thanks to Mary Philpott, our set-dancing teacher, who was present on the night and guided the children as they displayed competently the steps they have learned at her Monday set dancing class. The night concluded with a wonderful sing song as the children lifted the roof with Scoil Mhuire’s Victory song. Many thanks to Joe and Eileen Browne for hosting our ‘Seisiún’. Thanks also to Brosna Comhaltas Committee for organising the night and to all those who helped out with the refreshments. We look forward to our next ‘Seisiún’
