Ballybunion CCE Notes

Ballybunion CCE Notes

  • Mar 30,2014

The branch was very well represented at the County Board at the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee, on Tuesday 25th March. The chairman, Mr Tony O’Connor, gave special mention to the Ballybunion branch when he congratulated and thanked them for their facilitation of the recent Sult na nÓg competition, held in the Tinteán theatre. He commended the excellent venue and thanked all those who helped out on the day. The comments from the floor were equally complimentary, stating that it was a first outing for many young performers and that it was a brilliant occasion.

The Cahirciveen branch, who are hosting the county Fleadh Cheoil this year, have asked for support with their monster raffle, to be held on the May bank holiday weekend. We wish them every success with their endeavours and will do anything we can to help out with the event. They still have a few vacant slots in the gig-rig, if there’s any group out there interested in taking up the challenge.

Mr John Stack, PRO drew attention to the draw being conducted on the CCÉ facebook page and he thanked Kilcoolys, Ballybunion for their generous sponsorship of the prize. Kilcoolys is also the venue for the rescheduled Lord Mayor competition on Saturday, April 5th. The announcement is to be made by Kerry’s own, Michael Healy-Reay. The Seisiún cheoil that night is in aid of the Cove Youth Café, so it promises to be another good one!

John Stack’s childrens class continues at the convent  hall every Monday evening from 4pm. We wish to thank all those who helped out and contributed at the church gate collection last weekend and as always, your support is much appreciated.

The next County Board Meeting will take place in Cahersiveen on 20th May 2014 in the Community Centre. This will be the final meeting before Fleadh Cheoil Ciarrai 2014.

An important notice for everyone competing in the county Fleadh Cheoil: The closing date for Fleadh Membership has now been extended to April 30th.

If you have any notes of interest to Comhaltas members please contact the branch PRO on 0860424009.
