The first Rambling House took place in Burke's Cafe on Saturday night 22nd February in a beautiful setting of candles lit at each table a welcoming open fire and a great gathering of the local community who all helped make this a night to remember.
The night was an outstanding success with local dancers, storytelling, singers and musicians providing a night of great entertainment. Neil O' Sullivan of the renouned Beaufort Rambling House got the Rambling House off to a great start. We had storytelling from Denis Martin McCarthy who showed his supreme talent of storytelling and also John Barton. The musicians on the night whose eloquent performances enhanced the evening. Patrick Piggot,Denis O'Shea, Pat O' Shea, John O'Sullivan, John Moriarty, Bernadette O'Connor and young Jack O' Sullivan.The abundance of talent form Roisin Ryan, Anthony Griffin and Sean Falvey is a true testament of what Irish culture is about.We had an outstanding performance form Stephen Scales on the Uilleann Pipes.To the many singers who performed on the night thanks to Clara Leahy, Veronica Sugrue, Niamh Burke, Eileen O' Connor, John Moriarty, Roisin Ryan, Mary Scannoll, Denis Guerin, Deborah O'Connor, Nicola O' Connor and Mary Griffin. To our brush dancers young Jack O'Sullivan and also Thomas Quirke. To our set dancers who gave a great performance and others too numerous to mention. To the Biddy group who preformed under the baton of Mary Jo Curran.Thanks to all those who provided tea and brack on the night.Thank you to our local dancing teacher Saoirse Looney who performed a solo dance for us on the night.To all who supported us on this unique occasion and helped us showcase the local talent.We look forward to this successful event being held again in the near future.
