At our monthly meeting last week Eoin O’Carra together with his committee were delighted to congratulate Ewan and Olwyn Evans on coming first in the u-14 duets and to our u-11 ladies set on coming second in their competition, in Ceol an Gheimridh.

A lengthy discussion ensued about the venue for the Ceol an Gheimhridh competitions with a number of causes of dissatisfaction being aired. A letter has been sent to the Kerry county board we envisage this will be, be discussed at the next county board meeting.

A lengthy also took place about the music and dance collection housed at Muckross House based on the research that was done in the early 1980s. This collection is now being digitised and is available to the public at www.muckrosshouseresearchlibrary.ie

Geraldine Guilfoyle gave a report on the county board workshop for secretaries and PROs and also on the Munster convention in Mallow.

The next music session in the Parish Hall will take place on Saturday, March 10th; put back from March 3rd due to a clash with the Handed Down series in Scartaglin. The county PRO has already been notified of the change of date and it has been updated in the newsletter.
